No longer Hardware: Shipbreakers, it's Hardspace: Shipbreaker. Shipbreakers, as Blackbird envisioned it, never actually happened.īut Shipbreakers is finally happening. Deserts of Kharak ended up being an isometric real-time strategy game. Shipbreakers was supposed to be a first-person salvage simulation. It was a completely different game at that point. A few years after that, Homeworld: Shipbreakers reintroduced itself as Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. A few months later, it changed its name to Homeworld: Shipbreakers.

In 2013 they first teased Hardware: Shipbreakers. But whether it's time, money, or influence, they haven't been able to tackle it the way they've wanted to. Blackbird Interactive, the makers of Homeworld, are super into this concept of being a 'shipbreaker.' They just love that word.
